Other Weekend Visitors

Published by Source on October 14th, 2011

We already have a pretty extensive list of prospects posted for Hoosier Hysteria this Saturday, but we have also put together a shorter list of visitors at other schools in the area. It is safe to say that no school, in the Midwest or anywhere else, has a list as big as Indiana’s, but top prospects from the classes of 2012-2015 will be attending scrimmages and Midnight Madness events all over.

BREAKING: Illinois lands 2013 SG Malcolm Hill

Published by Source on September 12th, 2011

A day after receiving a commitment from 2012er Michael Orris, Bruce Weber has pulled in a top-50 prospect in Belleville East shooting guard Malcolm Hill. The news was first reported just minutes ago by Scout.com’s Brian Snow.

The 2013 stud Hill had offers from Illinois, Kansas State, Missouri, Southern Illinois, and Xavier. He was also being recruited by a number of other B1G schools, Indiana, Michigan, Michigan State, Purdue, Ohio State and Wisconsin, plus Notre Dame.

Considered one of the best shooting guard prospects in Illinois, the 6-5 Hill has all the tools to be a monster matchup at the next level. New Illinois commitment: Michael Orris (2012)

Published by Source on September 12th, 2011

On the same day that one Illinois target chose to play elsewhere, Head Coach Bruce Weber and staff received a commitment a different Chicago-area point guard. Michael Orris, a 6-2 PG from Crete-Monee and a former Creighton commit, pledged to the Illini on Sunday afternoon. Orris was on an official visit in Champaign this weekend and is now the first member of Weber’s 2012 recruiting class.

The final three schools for Orris were Illinois, Boston College and Nebraska, but the opportunity to play for the state school and the promixity to home tipped the scales in favor of the Illini.

Orris has the ability to score from all over the court but is characterized a pass-first true point guard. As with Chicago-land prospects and B1G targets/verbals, the Source will be on hand to watch Orris during the upcoming boys basketball season. As a junior this past season, Orris averaged 9.7 points and 6.0 assists while shooting 47% from the field (stats).
