All-American Championship Rosters Announced

Published by Source on March 1st, 2012

Earlier today, Scout.com’s Evan Daniels posted the rosters for the upcoming All-American Championship. The event, which takes place Sunday April 1st at the Lakefront Arena in New Orleans, features four teams of prep players from across the country. Players are divided onto the four teams (East, West, North and South) and two games are played (East-West at 3pm EST and North-South afterwards). For the second year in a row, the event is held in the same city and during the same weekend as the NCAA Final Four (March 31-April 2 at the Superdome in NOLA).

High school recruits are allowed participate in two sanctioned All-Star events per year. Several of the players in this event were ineligible for the McDonald’s All-American game, while others were simply not chosen.

The B1G is well-represented, with the North roster being comprised entirely of future B1G players and one more headed to Notre Dame. What is interesting about this event is that it is open to both seniors and juniors (7 of the 38 players are in the class of 2013). The full rosters follow the jump below, with all locally-notable prospects in BOLD.

Anthony Clemmons commits to Iowa

Published by Source on September 26th, 2011

With four solid players already committed to Iowa in the class of 2012, head coach Fran McCaffery is moving the program in the right direction. On Sunday the stellar class grew to five with the commitment of Lansing, MI (Sexton) point guard Anthony Clemmons.

The 6’1″ Clemmons gave his pledge to the Hawkeyes after making an official campus visit over the weekend. He was also considering Detroit, Eastern Michigan, Northern Illinois and Western Michigan. He had committed briefly to EMU earlier this summer but reopened his recruitment.

Clemmons has built a friendship with current Hawkeye and fellow Michigan-native Devyn Marble, who served as his player host for the visit. He told Rivals.com that he hopes to make it back to Iowa City the weekend of October 15th to join fellow Hawkeye commits Adam Woodbury (ranked #42 overall) and Mike Gesell (#96)  on their official visits.

As a junior at Sexton, Clemmons averaged 12 point, 4 rebounds and 4 assists per game. He plays alongside Michigan State commit Denzel Valentine (#80) and mid-major prospect Bryn Forbes.

Adam Woodbury stays in-state, commits to Iowa

Published by Source on September 14th, 2011

The B1G Conference programs have been doing a great job recruiting this past year, especially in the Class of 2012. 7-foot center Adam Woodbury became the latest big name prospect to choose a B1G school tonight when he committed to his home state Iowa Hawkeyes.

Woodbury, who hails from Sioux City (East), Iowa, is ranked the #42 overall prospect in the class by Rivals.com and #7 player at the center position. The big man joins AAU teammate Mike Gesell (#96 overall), Indianapolis shooter Patrick Ingram and Atlanta-area big Kyle Meyer to form a class that should certainly be recognized as one of top 20 in the country.

Iowa Head Coach Fran McCaffery beat out North Carolina’s Roy Williams for the services of Woodbury, a prospect who simply blew up this past summer. In June, Woodbury was awarded MVP honors at the NBA Players Association Top 100 Camp. McCaffery certainly put in the work on the recruiting trail, taking in every one of Adam’s AAU games over the summer.
