The 2012 NCAA Bracket is out!

Congrats to all 68 teams that were fortunate enough to have their name called tonight! Six teams from the B1G received spots in the field, as well as local Big East teams Marquette and Notre Dame. Below, you will find a breakdown of who is playing who, where they are playing, and what day the game is on.

UPDATE: Times/broadcasts have been added at the end of each game description.

Michigan State – The Spartans got the 4th 1-seed in this year’s field after beating the Ohio State Buckeyes in this afternoon’s conference title game. Tom Izzo leads his Michigan State squad into the NCAA Tournament for the 15th straight season and this is the 4th time that they have been a 1-seed in that span. This year, the Spartans sit atop the West Region and will face NEC Champion LIU-Brookyln in the first round (Columbis, OH). A first round win will result in a match-up with either Memphis or Saint Louis over the weekend. [9:20pm/8:20cst on TBS]

Ohio State – Despite losing in the conference title game, the Buckeyes were given a 2-seed in this year’s East Regional (Syracuse is the 1). They will face off with 15-seed MAAC winner Loyola (MD) in the first round and would face either 7-seed Gonzaga or 10-seed West Virginia after that. Those games will be played in Pittsburgh. This is the 6th NCAA berth in head coach Thad Matta’s 8 seasons in Columbus and the 3rd time the Buckeyes have been a 2-seed in that time. They were also a top seed twice, including last season. B1G Announces Year-End Award winners

The B1G Conference has released their year-end award winners and all-conference teams. There are two sets of winners, one chosen by the twelve B1G coaches and one chosen by a select group of media members. Congrats to all of the honorees!! You will find the full lists below:

All-American Championship Rosters Announced

Earlier today, Scout.com’s Evan Daniels posted the rosters for the upcoming All-American Championship. The event, which takes place Sunday April 1st at the Lakefront Arena in New Orleans, features four teams of prep players from across the country. Players are divided onto the four teams (East, West, North and South) and two games are played (East-West at 3pm EST and North-South afterwards). For the second year in a row, the event is held in the same city and during the same weekend as the NCAA Final Four (March 31-April 2 at the Superdome in NOLA).

High school recruits are allowed participate in two sanctioned All-Star events per year. Several of the players in this event were ineligible for the McDonald’s All-American game, while others were simply not chosen.

The B1G is well-represented, with the North roster being comprised entirely of future B1G players and one more headed to Notre Dame. What is interesting about this event is that it is open to both seniors and juniors (7 of the 38 players are in the class of 2013). Indiana state playoffs kick off with sectional play

Across the state of Indiana, a number of B1G and local committed prospects will be looking to advance their high school teams through sectionals. Play kicks off Tuesday night and 4 future state champions begin their journey to glory. Indiana separates high schools into 4 separate classes based on enrollment size (4A has the biggest schools, down to A with the smallest). A number of huge games will take place tonight, as the blind draw put several high profile teams against each other in the first round. Below is a breakdown of where the notable players will be and when you can check them out (all commits are 2012 unless noted otherwise, some times will be approx. as they may depend on previous game):

CLASS 4A

Sec. 1: Glenn Robinson III (Michigan) and Lake Central face Munster at Gary West Side (Tues 8pm/7 CT)

Sec. 6: VJ Beachem (Notre Dame ’13) and New Haven will play Jay County at Huntington North (Tues 6pm/5 CT)

Sec. 8: Ronnie Johnson (Purdue), Patrick Ingram (Iowa) and North Central face Gary Harris (Michigan State) and Zak Irvin (Michigan ’13) at Noblesville (Tues 7pm/6 CT)

Sec. 10: Jeremy Hollowell (Indiana) and Lawrence Central will meet Trey Lyles (Indiana ’14) and Arsenal Tech at Tech (Tues 6pm/5 CT)

Sec. 10: Collin Hartman (Indiana ’13) and Cathedral faces Basil Smotherman (Purdue ’13) and Lawrence North at Tech (Tues 7:30/6:30 CT)

Sec. 10: Devin Davis Jr. (Indiana ’13) and Warren Central will face the winner of the Lawrence Central/Tech game on Friday at Tech (6pm/ 5CT)

Sec. 11: Austin Burgett (Notre Dame) and Avon take on Southport at Southport (Tues 7pm/6 CT)

New look AP and Coaches Polls

It’s Monday afternoon, and that means the latest editions of the AP and ESPN/USA Today Coaches polls have been released. Two B1G teams have made their poll debut this week, while the conference continues to hold strong overall.

Indiana, fresh off of a huge upset of #1 Kentucky Saturday night, enters the polls at #18 (AP) and #20 (Coaches). This marks the Hoosiers’ (9-0) first appearance in the national rankings since March of 2008, and the first week under Tom Crean. Kentucky fell to #3 in each poll after the loss, but still received 4 first-place votes in the AP.

Michigan State (8-2) is ranked for the first time this year, earning #21 from the AP and #23 from the coaches. The Spartans started the season 0-2 with losses to North Carolina and Duke, but have not lost since then and enter the rankings on an 8-game winning streak.

Ohio State (8-1) held on to the #2 ranking in both polls despite losing in Lawrence to the Kansas Jayhawks. The Buckeyes have been without their star All-American candidate Jared Sullinger for two games, and the absence of the big man clearly had an impact on Saturday’s loss to KU.

Wisconsin (8-2) holds in the middle of the pack at #14 AP / #15 Coaches. Illinois extended its undefeated season to 10-0 and stands at #19 in both. Michigan (7-2) makes it 7 ranked teams for the B1G Conference, as they are #20 AP / #18 Coaches.

Regional Big East team Marquette is also undefeated (9-0) and stands at #11 in both polls. Creighton suffered its first loss of the season (7-1) to unranked Saint Joseph’s Saturday but still held onto a #25 AP / #24 Coaches ranking.

B1G Wins Third Straight Challenge over ACC

After losing each of the first ten years of the Big Ten / ACC Challenge, the B1G Conference has turned the table and won it for the third straight year. In the first year of a 12-team conference (and therefore a 12-game challenge), the B1G took 8 of the games and won the annual event 8-4. Below we have the results of all 12 games, as well as some stats for each. The B1G won 4 out of 6 games in each of the two days and entered Wednesday needing 3 wins to clinch. After winning the first 3 games of the day, the conference fans could rest easy and enjoy some solid basketball in the Wednesday late games.
